Endangered: Red-Crowned Cranes
ink on paper, 72 X 36"
Native to Korea, China, Japan, Southeast
Russia. Degradation of the crane’s breading
and wintering wetlands due to agriculture
and industrial development have contributed
to the decline. In China the proliferation
of dams, droughts, pollution, and flood
have all contributed to their population
decline. In Korea poaching and plowing
along the demilitarized zone are treats.
